We did not in fact suggest he limit it to version 2.
There must be a misunderstanding here.

But I think there is no need to pursue it.  Thanks for noticing this
and getting it fixed up.

    it closely. Given today's CVS bug from CERT, I am even more wary of
    using CVS servers...
