Re: Real time event scheduling?

May I add myself to the list of processes that would benefit from
real-time awareness and managability? We're using Swarm for music
research (similar to football - I mean soccer, not the other one - in
many ways), and the only way of managing system time seems to be to
report time taken on each cycle from a system call, and provide a probe
to manage a step number or empty loop length variable to coax it towards
something appropriate. This is both inelegant and non-robust.
Given that there's no way of accomplishing the necessary tasks
faster than possible, might it not be possible to build a variable into
Swarm which would <limit> step time, but in a precise, efficient and
robust way?

    Jonathan
