    Because it seems for several persons
     functionality  is something optional, inessential, and thus reducing
    for accessibility. So a such word can be confusing and lead to mistakes
    and misunderstandings.

That is a misunderstanding of the word.  Anything that a program is
intentionally designed to do is functionality.  For instance,
compiling C is a functionality of any C compiler.  Anything other
than a functionality is an inconsequential detail.

For this discussion I would be willing to use some other word, if you
suggest one that has the right meaning.
