I've just had a look at mercurial, seems nice. I don't think the sourceforge 
trick would work with savannah as there is no ssh shell access on savannah.

Do you know if there is a way to do remote push without having one unix 
account per user on the target ? As long as savannah doesn't provide 
mercurial support out of the box, we either need a server with one ssh login 
per developer or we can forget about push and have a maintainer who pulls 
from contributors, but knowing our work force, this looks irrealistic to me.
