What are the actual _improvements_ over say, cygwin's bash?

Eg:
$ cp /cygdrive/c/Windows/blah .

works just fine...

and install cygwin-xfree86 + xterm, and you've got a real resizable
xterm with bash too...

heaven when you're stuck on Windows (which I expunged from my laptop and
workstations about three years ago now...
