I have compiled the boost libraries on Gentoo Linux without problems,
using emerge on a gcc 3.3.2 system. Earlier GCC version appear to have
problems when -fstack-protector is enabled. I reported this to the
Gentoo guys at <http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35134> already.
I'm not certain whether this is related to your problem, though.
