The test carried out on ubunu 14.04 LTS 64bit with octave 4.0.2

graphics_toolkit gnuplot
  works same as yours.

graphics_toolkit qt
 The internal text is not rotated. The color of X and F154 are gone. (the
same)

Howerver I export plot by qt plot menu, color problem exists but text is
rotated

Export to pdf and print to pdf gives almost the same figures.

graphics_toolkit fltk
Plot window is almost the same as that of qt.
Results of export pdf and print to pdf are the same as those on qt.

Plot window results are the same as yours but for exports and print to pdf
(or png) , 
results are not the same as yours.
