Try it on a dual screen machine with simulavr.tcl -d :0.1 / -d :0.0.
I did an experiment and this does not happen if tclsh is the "shell" at the top of simulavr.tcl but it does happen it the "shell" is wish.Is it becoming wish when you configure?
Or are you doing something by hand. --joel
