Thank you very much Daniel.  This is a blessing. Now I can copy and paste using the keyboard.

I am finding it odd (but not a problem) that I can Command-C or Ctrl-C to copy but can only Ctrl-V to paste because Command-V gives me a small "v" instead of the contents of my clipboard. Weird.

Thank you. Have a nice day,

Brian

Actually, the fix for keyboard input in other languages was my main concern. The command vs. ctrl issue was my clue that the two systems were using different input.

I discovered I can use the input from the regular Mac keyboard (in my case I wanted to type Hebrew). The fix was easy. Under X11 -> Preferences... I selected the Input tab and checked "Follow System Keyboard Layout." That allowed me to write Hebrew.

Yes. On mac we use command-C and command-V to copy and paste for mac-native programs but ctrl-C and ctrl-V for some non native programs. However, I was not able to get any keyboard combination working for copy-paste in bibledit, nor is the keyboard short cut listed in the menu (version 4.6 on older mac as). I don't know about version 4.7 yet as I am still unable to populate it with my backed up data.

I will try these things when I get the chance (now that I know I can get it going again). I want to compile from the latest release anyway.

By the way, I noticed that the keyboard is not the same as the Mac keyboard. So you use Ctrl-c to copy rather than command-c. And other keyboard layouts do not work. :( If anyone has any ideas for that, let me know.

Wish I had access to OS X in order to try a few things, like:
* After installing bibledit-gtk from source, then installing it through macports, then running the bibledit-gtk version installed by macports, would it still crash?
* It the macports version would run without crash, then removing the version installed manually, would the crash be back again?
