Actually, the fix for keyboard input in other languages was my main
concern. The command vs. ctrl issue was my clue that the two systems
were using different input. I discovered I can use the input from the regular Mac keyboard (in my case I wanted to type Hebrew). The fix was easy. Under X11 -> Preferences...
